Download Exness — what to install while a position is still open (Bangladesh)

The file is the easy part. The question worth a minute is whether now is the moment: some of these installs happen with a position open and nothing changes, and three of them are better left until there is nothing on the screen to watch.

Adding a platform alongside the one already running is safe at any moment — it installs into its own folder and the open window carries on drawing. Replacing or updating the platform you are watching from closes that window while it happens. Removing a platform and putting it back, moving to a different computer, and letting an operating-system upgrade run are the three worth postponing until nothing needs watching.

Which one do I need?

Not sure which to get? The Exness Trade app (Android and iOS) is the simplest way to trade on a phone. On a computer, MetaTrader 5 or MetaTrader 4 installs on Windows and macOS for advanced charting, while the Exness Terminal runs in any browser with nothing to download. Google Play and the App Store are the official app sources; an APK from a third-party site such as apkpure is not recommended for a financial app.

Two lists: what carries on without a window, and what does not

An order that has already been left with the broker — a stop, a limit, a take-profit attached to a position — keeps its instruction whether a platform is open or not. That is the half of the answer that makes most installs harmless: closing a window to run an installer does not withdraw what was already placed.

The other half runs inside the window. An alert set on a chart, an automated strategy attached to a chart, a trailing stop the platform is maintaining — all three are the program doing arithmetic on your own machine, and all three stop the moment the window closes. If any of them is doing something for you right now, the installer waits.

Installing next to, rather than over

MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 are separate programs and do not overwrite each other, and a second copy of the same program can be pointed at a folder of its own while it installs. Neither operation touches the copy that is already running: the installer writes somewhere else, and the window you are watching keeps drawing throughout.

This is the route to take when something has to be added and a position is open — a second platform, a copy on another drive, a fresh installation to try a setting on. Adding is cheap. Replacing is what costs you a window, and the cost is paid in the minutes you cannot see the screen.

The steps worth postponing

Three jobs take a machine away for longer than a screen can be ignored. Removing a platform cleanly and putting it back takes the local side with it — chart set-ups, indicator files, saved window arrangements — and none of that is quick to rebuild in a hurry. An operating-system upgrade decides its own timetable and may restart the machine more than once. Moving to a different computer means the first minutes on the new one go on finding things rather than watching them.

None of the three does anything to an order already sitting with the broker. All three are expensive in attention, and attention is what an open position is already spending. The rule of thumb is short: if it changes the window you look through, do it when there is nothing to look at.

Before you start the installer

  1. Look at what is open right now: a position, a pending order, or nothing at all.
  2. Check whether anything is running inside the window — a chart alert, an attached strategy, a trailing stop the platform is maintaining.
  3. If something is running inside the window, either stop it deliberately or wait.
  4. Install alongside rather than over the top whenever the choice exists.
  5. If the platform being replaced is the one you watch from, pick a moment when nothing on the account needs a decision.
  6. Sign in on the new copy before closing the old one, so there is never a stretch with no window at all.

An order that has already been placed keeps its instruction throughout. The point of the sequence is to keep a screen in front of you, not to protect the order.

Can this be done right now?

What you are about to doWith a position openWorth checking first
Installing a second platform next to the one runningGoes ahead — separate folder, separate windowThat the running window is left open while the installer works
Installing on a second computerGoes ahead — the first machine is untouchedWhich machine you intend to watch from afterwards
Updating the platform you are watching fromThe window closes for the durationWhether the next few minutes need watching
Removing a platform and installing it againLeave it until the screen is clearChart set-ups and indicator files worth copying out
Letting an operating-system upgrade runLeave it until the screen is clearHow long the upgrade is likely to take
Opening the browser platform insteadGoes ahead — nothing is installedThat it is the same account being signed in to

Nothing in this list is undone by an installer; the list is about what you can see and act on while one runs.

Frequently asked questions

Can a platform be installed while a position is open?
Installing a second platform alongside the one already running goes ahead without touching it: the installer writes to its own folder and the open window keeps drawing. Replacing the platform you are watching from is the case that closes the window for the duration.
Does closing the platform close a position?
No. An order already placed — a stop, a limit or a take-profit attached to a position — keeps its instruction with the broker whether a platform is open or not.
What stops working when the window closes?
Anything the platform was doing on your own machine: an alert set on a chart, an automated strategy attached to a chart, and a trailing stop the platform was maintaining. All three need the window open.
Is it safe to update MetaTrader with a position open?
The update itself closes the window while it runs. The useful version of the question is whether the next few minutes need watching; if they do, the update waits.
Can MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 sit on the same computer?
Yes. They are separate programs that install into separate folders and do not overwrite each other, so adding the second one does not disturb the first.
Which steps should wait until the position is closed?
A clean removal and reinstall, an operating-system upgrade, and a move to a different computer. None of them harms an order that has already been placed, but all three take attention for longer than an open screen can spare.
What is worth copying out before a platform is removed?
Chart set-ups, indicator files and saved window arrangements — the local side of an installation, which a clean removal takes with it.
