MetaTrader 5 (MT5) (Bangladesh)
MetaTrader 5 shows part of the screen in points and part in the money of the account, and which is which is a setting rather than a fixed property. This page is about turning the window so that the figures on it read in the account's own currency.
Open Exness Account →Half of a MetaTrader 5 window arrives in points and half in the money of the account, and the question how much did that cost has no answer on screen until the difference is settled. The profit display on the Trade tab is a right-click choice between points and the account currency; commission and swap are separate columns that stay hidden until they are asked for; and the spread in Market Watch stays a point figure whatever is set, because nothing has attached a volume to it.

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) at Exness
- The Profit column on the Trade tab of the Toolbox can be shown in points or in the account currency — it is a right-click choice, not a fixed property of the platform.
- The spread in Market Watch is a point figure and stays one: it becomes an amount only once a volume is attached to it.
- Commission and swap are separate figures from profit, and their columns are not shown until they are asked for.
- Stop Loss and Take Profit are drawn on a chart as prices, so the gap between them is a price distance rather than an amount.
- The account history report totals in the account currency, which is why it answers a money question when the Trade tab does not.
- Column sets and the profit display belong to the copy of the platform they were set on — another machine starts on the defaults.
- The same account opens in MetaTrader 5 on Windows, macOS, a browser and a phone, and these display choices are made again on each of them.

Open Exness Account →Why part of the window arrives in points
A point figure is the same number for every account and every trade size, which is what makes it the sensible default for a program shipped to everybody. The moment the same movement is written in money it stops being general: it depends on the size of the position and on the currency the account is held in, and neither of those is known to a column heading.
That is the whole reason the platform offers a choice instead of picking for you. The default is the figure that is true everywhere; the useful figure is the one that is true here, and moving between them takes a single right-click.
The columns that are not there until they are asked for
The trade and history lists in the Toolbox show a subset of what they hold. Right-clicking a column heading opens the full set, and the entries usually missing are the ones that make a result complete: commission, swap, and the time each position was opened and closed. Profit on its own is a partial figure wherever an account charges commission separately, and partial again on any position that was carried rather than closed the same session.
Adding those columns changes what the list answers. Before, it says how the price moved. After, it says what the account did. Those are different questions, and the second one is usually the one being asked.
One setting, and then the screen answers the question
With the profit display on the account currency and the commission and swap columns visible, the trade list stops needing arithmetic. Every row is in the same unit as the balance, which means the rows can be added up by eye and the total is the same figure the account report produces later.
What does not change is the spread column, and it should not. A spread is a price difference with no size attached to it, so it stays a point figure until a volume is chosen for it — which is a question for the calculators rather than for a column heading.
All of these choices live in the copy of the platform they were made on. Open the same account on a different machine, or in the browser platform, and that window starts on its own defaults — worth knowing before concluding that a figure has changed.
Setting the window to read in money
- Open the Toolbox and go to the Trade tab.
- Right-click inside the list and set the profit display to the account currency instead of points.
- Right-click a column heading and switch on Commission and Swap.
- Do the same on the History tab, where the closed positions are listed.
- Read the total at the foot of the history report — it is already in the account currency and now matches the rows above it.
These are display settings on one copy of the platform. The account itself is untouched by any of them.
What is in points, and what turns it into money
| On the screen | Unit as it arrives | What turns it into money |
|---|---|---|
| Profit, Trade tab of the Toolbox | Points, unless the display is switched | Right-click the Trade tab and choose the account-currency view |
| Spread, Market Watch | Points, always | A volume — a point figure is the same for every trade size |
| Stop Loss and Take Profit on a chart | A price | The volume of the position the levels belong to |
| Commission and swap | Account currency, but hidden | Adding their columns to the trade and history lists |
| The account history report | Account currency | Nothing — this is the one place that totals in money by default |
The choices above belong to the copy of the platform they are made on, not to the account.
